Meet Our Team

Adam and Ann – Executive Directors

Adam and Ann Boyd serve as the Executive Directors of BME, as well as Camps Merri-Mac and Timberlake. Adam grew up in adventure programming, following his parents footsteps into professional camping. He met Ann while at Wofford college and she at Converse, and they have been committed to professional outdoor leadership since. Subsequently Adam received his Masters of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Reformed Theological Seminary. Adam is a life-long climber, an instructor trainer for the Professional Climb Instructor’s Association, past board president of the North Carolina Youth Camp Association and author of Jonathan Edwards, Beauty and Younger Evangelicals. With their own children now coming on staff, Adam and Ann remain dedicated to growth through friends and adventure.

Patrick Emery – Director

Patrick joins us with over twenty years of leading, instructing and innovating in the outdoor industry, beginning at Geneva College leading the Pisgah Program and serving as the Challenge Course Coordinator. He then served fifteen years with the Resource Specialist Team and finally as the Assistant Director of the CCO’s Experiential Design Programs. Most recently Patrick served as the site director for OneLife Institute’s Trade and Culinary gap year program. 

Patrick holds an M.A. from Columbia International University and is certified as a WEA Outdoor Educator, WMA Wilderness First Responder, PCIA Single Pitch Instructor, ACA Canoeing L1 Instructor, Coastal Kayaking L2 Instructor and River Rescue L3 Instructor.

He and his wife April have three teenage children and together they are committed to designing custom programs, expeditions and adventures with purpose.

Adam Kepke

Adam spent every summer in college working at a camp in Northern Wisconsin specializing in adventure and wilderness tripping. He believes that adventures can be incredible catalysts experiences for growth and formation. Adam loves teaching and working with students and campers using a trail or river as his classroom. When not at Black Mountain Expeditions you can find Adam doing any number of outdoor adventures with his wonderful wife, Katherine.
