Pisgah National Forest

Explore North Carolina’s Pisgah National Forest. Known as the “cradle of forestry,” Pisgah is the birth place of our country’s national forests, and is located within the Blue Ridge Mountains. These mountains are the oldest in the world and are filled with the rich cultural history of Appalachia. Pisgah is home to treasures such as Looking Glass, Linville Gorge, and Shining Rock Wilderness.

Pisgah National Forest has some of the best wilderness in the country. Pisgah is known for its countless waterfalls, high bald knobs, exposed ridge lines, granite domes, and even the highest peak east of the Mississippi, Mt. Mitchell.
